The Red Fort with its massive stone walls is an unmissable feature of the old quarters of the Indian capital. It sits in the heart of Shahjahanabad -- the Seventh City of Delhi – which is today a thriving commercial and trading centre. Inaugurated in 1648 by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, the fort has stood witness to over four centuries of celebration, change, and chaos. Our tour takes you on a journey through different eras in the history of India and in this story the main character is the Red Fort. We travel from Mughal India, to British India, to Independent India, and see how the fort adapted to each new power that gained control over it.
